Supporting Small Businesses
in Canton, Ohio
Supporting small businesses during the Coronavirus is a struggle at the moment, and we’ve been self-quarantining for about five or six days now with the occasional quick Target/Fresh Thyme run for groceries (but for the CORRECT amount of toilet paper and hand sanitizer, cause the world has gone mad). Mikayla and I are doing fine, but the cats seem to be a bit suspicious. I’m not superstitious but I am a little stitious that the cats may be plotting to kill us (If we don’t blog in the next couple of weeks, call the police).
But with all the craziness that’s happening, we’ve been trying our best in supporting small businesses in Canton, Ohio the best we can. Being apart of the photography community, we’ve seen many businesses being majorly affected financially with most of their clients being forced to cancel their events and because of that, they are losing a lot of money that they depend on. And with the forced closings from the government, many brick and mortar small businesses are struggling really hard.
With that, we’re going to continue to keep supporting small businesses in Canton and we hope that you can support them as well through this weird and uncomfortable time. Below we are going to list some of our favorite small businesses in Canton that are still open and need your support.
1. Walkie Talkie Espresso and Coffee
Address: 504 15th St NW, Canton, OH 44703

This place is near and dear to our hearts. John, Lindsey and the gang are some of the best people we know. We’ve had the privilege of working closely with them on branding, photos, and any other weird and crazy idea we think of, you name it. Their coffee is to die for (gingersnap for the win) and their community mindset takes Walkie Talkie to the next level of awesomeness. Also, their baby is the cutest barista #babymaxking.
We can’t wait till this virus craziness has gotten under control so we can hang out with our friends again in their wonderful shop. Once this craziness is over, consider stopping by and fall in love with the walkie talkie culture, (put down the phone and talk to the person next to ya). But until then, these guys are open and are currently available for carryout.

Okay, this place is also near and dear to our hearts. Mikayla worked here for the first few years of our marriage, so she’s seen firsthand. We even had one of our very first dates here as a couple, and they catered our wedding. Fantastic sammies, and even more fantastic people. Ryan, Ashten, and the whole crew are the bomb. Ryan has the most community minded entrepreneurial wizard superpowers I’ve ever seen in my entire life (definitely has the “if you build it, they will come” vibes).
The entire crew works so hard to give their customers stellar food and service, and Ryan is constantly pushing to elevate everything and anything to make Canton an amazing place. Currently Deli has Ohio has closed its doors to the public, but they are trying out something new until the virus is over. Check it out below.
“We will begin Family Meal Kits with FREE Delivery starting Monday, March 23rd. All days will have a selected meal that will feed 4-6 people. All orders must be reserved and paid for in advance. We will deliver to your front porch via free delivery with any tips being shared among the Deli Ohio Employees, regardless of whether or not they are currently working. All meals will be as stated on the menu with no modification or substitutions at this time.”
Check it out on their facebook page for more information!

Sometimes in smaller cities, there’s not a ton of healthy choices available to quickly grab and go. Diaita has some of the best healthy and vegan options around. Their focus on health and wellness is inspiring, and we’re so happy they’re in our area. One of our favorite drinks to get is their immunity shot, it’s packed full of healthy immune boosting goodness for your immune system. Today we bought our usual, the daily detox which has oranges, apples, ginger, and lemon. Freaking Delicious. They have many other food and drink options to try, so seriously check them out! They are pickup only at the moment. So stop by and say hello! (But like six feet away of course)
4. Heritage Bread Company
Address: Message Heritage for address before picking up bread

Jani is hands down the best freaking baker we know (and the kindest<3). While she usually sells her baked goods at flea markets and such, she also offers a bread subscription service. Weekly (or every once in a while, up to you), you can order and pick up a loaf of bread at Jani’s house, fresh and absolutely delicious (sometimes even still warm). Jani’s sourdough loaves are made from locally grown grains that she grinds HERSELF in her home.
Mikayla has a sensitive digestive system and has absolutely no problem eating Jani’s baked goods, which makes us that much more thankful for her and her craft. So if you are looking to die from a bread coma where the outside of the bread is nice and crispy, and the inside is a fluffy dream, she’s the baker for you, send her a message on facebook or instagram to try some amazing bread.
5. Arrowhead Vintage & Handmade Goods

Dave and Melissa sell freaking sweet handmade goods and vintage items. They’re such a creative powerhouse, and watching Arrowhead grow since we’ve lived in Canton has been awesome. They love Canton so much, and that’s so evident in everything they do (they were huge in the launch of the Downtown Flea and that has grown astronomically). Dave is such a talented painter/illustrator/cool guy all around and Melissa crochets/knits/magically spins yarn with her superpowers to create stinking adorable hats, scarves, figures, you name it! #babyyoda.
They put their hearts and souls into this shop, and it totally shows. Also Dave has a cool beard, so if you see him, please compliment his beard. It’s the best compliment you can give to a man. (I know that from personal experience.) These guys are going fully online until the virus is over, please consider reaching out and buying something online. Get a cool patch for your cool jean jacket, or even commission Dave for a freaking awesome painting.
These are not the only small businesses in Canton that need your support, please tag and share this blog with your favorite small businesses wherever you are and whatever platform your on. Let’s get this chain going and really support the people who make our community great.
