Park Street Pizza
A while back, as many of you food fans know, we connected with Rocky from Bahler Street Pizza to create a styled pizza shoot complete with a decked out farm table, mouth watering food, an awesome crew, and of course, motorcycles. Rocky and his wife Courtney, pizzapreneurs (I feel like this should be a real word for these two, seriously) and pie professionals, also own a brick and mortar restaurant called Park Street Pizza.
Well, our dream of more commercial work involving food (most importantly the delicious PIZZA kind of food) came true, and we’ve teamed up with Rocky again to capture content for Park Street. We spent the day with Rocky and his stellar crew down in Sugarcreek to capture everything from pies, to the awesome decor, to the team and tons more.
Park Street Pizza itself is located in a little Amish country town called Sugarcreek. Let me tell you, this building has style. Pops of orange and sleek metal mixed with funky light fixtures and that perfect family style vibe. Back in the kitchen, the crew busts out all the prep for the night with ease. Savory smells are a-flowin’, plump dough is flying, sauces are dolloped, and our mouths are watering just thinking about it.
As you can see, the kitchen is an absolutely no fun zone. Psych. Everyone was fantastic and hilarious and SO accommodating to our presence (ie us being in the way with our lenses shoved all up in their personal space). The whole Park Street team is incredibly community-minded, and as customers flowed in for a bite, you could feel how much they care for those they are serving. No matter what way you slice it, Rocky and the whole Park Street Pizza team are awesome
Warning: the following content you are about to experience with your eyes may cause a SEVERE need for food in your belly ASAP. Another noted side effect is drool. These ailments can be cured by stuffing one’s face.
This light set up was a fun one for us! We played around with the contrast and wood colors to get that perfect appetizing punch of light. Sometimes, setting up lighting equipment for a photo shoot is like solving a puzzle. Ultimately, super satisfying and rewarding, but the road to get there can be frustrating. The more you see, the more you learn.
Yeah, yeah, enough about light. Wouldya just look at those fries? And those decadent wings?! The amber sauce. The cheesy breadsticks. Mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm. Every month or so, Park Street Pizza has a rotational pizza! We love how they change it up and give customers a fresh, inventive new pizza.
Rocky and Courtney have such a heart for the community, that they started a non-profit fundraising for raising money the best way they know how—pizza. Philosophy of Pie (or POP) just moved into a building across Sugarcreek, where they bust out resources for those fundraisers and hold their offices. We spent some time there as well, and got to see a peek at that process.
We then made our way down the road (quite literally) to Sweetwater Farms, one of the farms that provides ingredients to the restaurants. Lastly, we headed to Boltz Farms, a local hydroponic farm where Rocky sources ingredients like basil and butter lettuce. Rows and rows of green heads of lettuce lined the greenhouse, and the smell of basil hung in the air. Paradise. Being able to see where your food is coming from is huge and incredibly important, especially when it supports a local business and family.
Park Street (and Bahler), you have a pizza our heart. Thank you for letting us go on this pizza journey with you. Too cheesy? Nah. Okay we’re done now.
Find yourself with incredible pizza (or <insert any other kind of food here>) and no one around to document it? Want to talk to us about your own small business photography or videography needs?
