Ohio Sand Dunes Engagement
Addison + Morgan
If you’ve been following our work, you know that we’ve already blogged the wedding of Addison and Morgan. But guess what we didn’t do? Blog the freaking engagement session. Maybe this is like the movies where they show you the ending, but then they show you all of the flashbacks that get you to the ending. So yes, we totally planned this and welcome to the flashback.
Addison and Morgan wanted something different than the Ohio greenery norm. Which is trees, hills, and more trees. They wanted to have a sand dune vibe. We were like, psh good luck on finding some sand dunes in Ohio, and guess what, she found some sand dunes in Ohio.
We drove out to what felt like the middle of nowhere back country of Ohio (where you may or may not be murdered). We went into this park that had hiking trails and ledges and Mikayla and I were skeptical about some Ohio sand dunes being there, because it looked like literally any other hiking trail that Ohio has to offer. But all of a sudden, we go to where this fence was knocked down and trampled on, (not sketchy or anything) and bam. Freaking sand dunes.
Sure it was a sand dump zone for a company, but we saw so many foot prints on that sand and there weren’t any “no trespassing” signs anywhere to be found (we searched because we don’t like to break the law) that we figured we were innocent until proven guilty. It didn’t really look like a sand dune, but when we stepped out into the sand, we were at the top of the dunes. We went to the edge and bam, huge drop off of sand, with small rolling hills at the bottom.
We immediately took off our shoes and ran out into the sand. We took our cameras out, and that’s when all the magic started. Addison and Morgan are freaking naturals in front of the camera. The love that they have for each other is just pouring out in front of us and we literally couldn’t take a bad photo. They laughed, danced, and held each other close.
We trekked down to the bottom of the sand dunes and positioned them in front of the humongous (I say huge-mungus) sand dune as an amazing back drop. The wind was blowing and you could see and feel the breeze. We then had them walk up to this rock wall with very steep sand (we didn’t fall or anything) and have them sit and hold each other close.
After we got done shooting everything, I (Luke) had an amazing idea. So amazing that it might. Just. Work. I had Addison lay down on the steep sand dune, and I had Morgan lay to the top of him, sideways. I then had Addison put up his arms to act like he was holding her up in the air. It was so spectacular that I couldn’t believe my eyes. (It was actually very terrible) Sand got in Addison’s shirt, pants and underwear. He then proceeded to strip down to his underwear and clean off all of his clothes, I did document that, but for his privacy, I’ll keep it out. Nice undies Addison, nice undies.
We ended the session with us heading to the top of dunes and had them hold each other close during blue hour (the sun went down and it’s blue out) and it was magical.
Addison and Morgan, thanks for joining us on an epic hike in the Ohio sand dunes. And for enduring my terrible photo idea.
