Nathan + Jordan
Chagrin Falls Engagement Session
In the small town of Chagrin Falls, you’ll find the quaintest small town things—ice cream, local shops, delicious foods and a … waterfall? You got that right, a freaking waterfall. You can get Jeni’s Ice Cream and walk down some huge steps and like, bam, a gorgeous waterfall. But do you wanna know what’s even better than a waterfall? Nathan and Jordan. They have the cutest cottage on the block and the raddest decor. Look at the 3 headed thing #classy.
Nathan and Jordan are one of the sweetest and kindest couples we know. We started off this engagement session with Nathan cooking up some amazing hors d’oeuvres, including a charcuterie board. Nothing says I love you more than cooking food for your significant other (to me anyway, but I’m a foodie). They fed each other this garlic pastry yumminess (I totally forgot the name of it) (but I need the recipe Nathan, I know you’re reading this) and it was the cutest thing ever. They then put on a record, poured some alchicall (not a typo, just say it in your head) and sat in their fancy wingback chairs.
The answer to a successful relationship is a set of matching chairs that make you feel pretty dang classy. It’s simple guys, really (they’re probably part of The Finer Things Club with Pam, Oscar, and Toby (ew)). After we got all cuddly on the chairs, we wondered around their beautiful house and sought the light. We found this amazing light as the sun was starting to set at the midpoint on the stairwell, and it gave the most moving emotional filled photographs of the whole session. Their lil Chagrin Falls cottage is over a hundred years old, and the walls feel rich with history and awesomeness, making those photos that much more significant.
We headed downstairs, pet the cat, and pet the cat some more, then headed out onto their porch to take some photos before we headed out to downtown Chagrin Falls. Their porch has this beautiful swing surrounded by plants. It’s the perfect add-on to their house. I mean, take a look at that porch guys, I’d kill for that on my house.
Hand in hand (Nathan and Jordan, who basically should be Calvin Klein models) (and us, the not Calvin Klein models) headed on down to downtown Chagrin Falls to check out the waterfall. As we arrived downtown we noticed a random set of stairs and just like that, we walked to the bottom of a riverbed (or creek) riveek? crick? Riverreek? 🤷♂️ and before us stood an awesome waterfall. Ya know what’s amazing? We had them stand and pose in front of the epic (for Ohio) waterfall and they looked way more epic. We didn’t do any of that magic in post guys, they are just killer dudes.
After we hiked around on some big rocks we headed on up the stairs to their favorite ice cream shop.
Okay. Listen. We’re pretty big ice cream connoisseurs. We take our ice cream consumption very seriously. Mikayla and I have a favorite ice cream spot called Mason’s Creamery up in Ohio City, Cleveland. When they told us that Jeni’s was their favorite ice cream spot, Mikayla and I were not won over that easily. Like I said, DIE HARD Mason’s Creamery fans through and through, but heck, ice cream is ice cream, so we were obviously down. Nathan and Jordan shared their first date at a Jeni’s, so it obviously has some sweet sentimental value there, but they swear by Jeni’s being the bomb diggity, so we gave it a chance.
Did they change our minds you ask? Did they change the mind’s of two loyal ice cream enthusiasts? Yes. Yes they did. Jeni’s in Chagrin Falls is the freaking bomb. The ice cream was silky smooth and the flavors were experimental yet familiar (orange blossom?! Yum). Nathan and Jordan walked in that ice cream parlor with this “I know I’m gonna change your mind’s” look on their faces and they freaking did. They enjoyed ice cream together while being all cute and we did what we do naturally. Document that crap. And consume the ice cream.
We ended the night by having them lounge in their chairs as dusk turned into blue black evening light, and we set the moody lighting stage with a lamp. Nathan and Jordan, you two are the freaking coolest and kindest and we love you. We can’t wait to shoot your wedding, and we can’t wait to share in your love by documenting your story.
Recently engaged and planning a wedding? Or just in need of some rad photographers to grab some slices with and hang? Maybe even some charcuterie (we lova da cheese)? Shoot us a message and talk to our cats (aka the office administrators) for information!
