BLUE HERON LAKE
Blue Heron Lake is located in upper northeast Ohio, near Dorset. This venue has an amazing a-frame cabin, a gorgeous forest ceremony site that looks like it came out of a movie, and a dock house ready for you to freaking party. This venue gets you into the great outdoors but with the the coziness of the dock-house. In a way, it’s like glamping but in venue form. This is for the hardcore adventure couples or for the occasional weekend hikers who aren’t afraid to get their heels/bare feet dirty. You can bring in any caterer you like, so that means more pizza from Bahler Street and/or Swensons in your future 😉 One of our couples had a caterer make the greatest fried chicken I’ve ever tasted out of a turkey fryer, possibilities are endless. Your ceremony can be held down an aisle of pine trees perfectly framed or have it right on the lake! If you’re tired of all the sounds of city life, you’re in luck, this is in the middle of nowhere. It’s a perfect spot to unplug, and enjoy nature and connect with others around you.
For the nature lover; rustic and woodsy. This venue is definitely for more intimate gatherings, but boy are they beautiful. With your closest friends a family, you can celebrate amongst the trees and pond (complete with its own dock and canoe!) on this gorgeous woodsy fairytale land. There’s a serene calmness on this property that makes you feel at ease as wind blows through the reeds surrounding the pond and your loved ones all meander into the forest of pines to watch you tie the knot. Getting ready in the a-frame cabin next to the woods is a next level vibe, and celebrating with food and drink in the dock house completes the woodsy vibe checklist. If you’re looking for the perfect, untraditional intimate gathering place to celebrate your wedding, this is it.
Where do we even start? Obviously, photography in the great outdoors is a pretty perfect situation to be in (rain, snow, or sunshine—and trust me, we’ve been through it all). The diversity within the property provides so many great light opportunities (and you know how nerdy we can get about light). The moodiness that comes from the dark and rich wood in the a-frame cabin, the dappled sunlight in the forest, the pond—ugh, it really is a goldmine for light geeks. String lights complete the ambiance as the evening winds down, and it couldn’t get any more cozy or perfect than that.
Could this venue be any more unique (spoken in Chandler Bing’s voice)? Honestly, this is the perfect intimate, boho elopement spot complete with its own pond and canoe (and yes, you can hop in!). The a-frame cabin, dock house, and surrounding woods and fields around the property…even in such a rural area, it makes up in overall awesomeness.
